Band News:  Can you believe I finally updated the sight news yet again!

Saturdays at O'Reilly's Saturday afternoon August 2nd you can catch Just Mean Gene at O'Reilly's from 3pm till 7pm sitting and sipping around the bar, excellent bar food or eat next door at Goobers. O'Reilly's brings in original acts from all over the country to great local entertainment. Pool tables, darts, tournaments etc... Live Music every Friday and Saturday night as well as Saturday afternoons featuring solo acoustic acts.

This weekend Harry's in Pismo Beach, Sunday Aug 3rd and Saturday August 30th afternoon's "Mean Gene and the Portable Jons" 3pm till 8pm Harry's always brings in a diverse crowd consisting of people from all over CA and often out of state to foreign vacationers. Always live music 6 days a week, twice a day on Sat and Sundays, drinks and dancing just a block form the pier in Pismo Beach. Great food and views all around. Convenient parking usually now with meters so be prepared to pay for parking these days....

DRUMMER NEWS! One other bit of news info is "Demi Solario" has taken the drum throne and added vocals for all  gigs although we are auditioning drummers for a short period of time. If you know someone who has it together for beating a mean drum kit and singing their butt off then please contact me for more information. Many will know Demi from various local bands as Friction Addiction, Legends and many more and not a new guy by any means to the Portable Jon's. Demi's been an important part of our extended musical family network for many years so we can start getting back up to Atascadero, Cayucos and Morro Bay once again. If anyone in North County reads this please tell your local bar you want to see the Portable Jon's rocking the house ASAP!

NAME CHANGE??? WHAT! Yep its true, the band is going thru some member line up changes after a run of roughly 6 to 7 years which is dam good for any rock-n-roll band these days. Don't worry there wont be any interruption of your rock-n-roll as Mean Gene is just getting warmed up. So far tentative names may be Mean Gene and the Green Machine, or Mean Gene and the New Machine, if you have any comments please let them be heard. Since the band originally had 3 Jon's or John's in the band and 2 of the 3 are gone it just isn't the Portable Jon's anymore so for I feel its time to give it a rest and pump some fresh blood into the band.
